About

My artist journey began with watercolors over 30 years ago. Over the past several years my passion has turned to mixed media. I began with different paint mediums and have expanded to many types of textures. My art comes from an intuitive place beginning with an idea and letting the piece flow from there.

I have a deep connection to abstract, colorful creations that are created from the heart in an effort to connect to the soul. Many of my pieces include upcycled and found objects combining them into a design that I can incorporate on a board or canvas with acrylic and other mediums.

I find taking the rusty pieces found in a myriad of places and contemplating a design to place on the canvas gives meaning to something that was discarded that can then be admired in a new setting.

I grew up in San Diego and have a love of the ocean and beaches. I have lived in Northern California for many years now, close to the Sierra which has given me a profound love of the mountains. My inspiration often comes from these two places of sand and surf along with rivers and lakes of the mountains. Getting outdoors is important to my creative side.

I form ideas for my projects while on hikes or meditations which often lead to the textures and colors of my work. It is a joy to create each and every piece of work in my studio.

Artist Statement

I create with many different types of textures and mediums. It is exciting to begin a new piece with an initial idea and then go on journey of creation that ends with a new expression of colors and form.

I love looking at the mediums and tools that I use that are outside the traditional art supplies which give a unique outcome to my creations.

My best work comes from a place deep inside that also connects in a meaningful way with those who view it.
